My Crafty Creations

I wanted to create a blog where I could post all my fun, crafty creations.. with my digital stamps, and other products also. So I created it.. :) If you happen to be a follower of mine and like my style.. then please click HERE to follow me on my creations blog too :) Hope to see you there HUGS

What are Digital Stamps? Why does my Ink Smear?

Digital Stamps WHAT??? Okay..So some people look at the term DIGITAL stamp and think...anything DIGITAL is not for me.. or I can't do anything DIGITAL.. or I don't do "Scrapbooking/Cardmaking/Crafts on the computer.. WHAT?? Seriously.. give it a try.. It's so simple.. I have made an EASY tutorial for you.. What's even better is you can try it for FREE.. I mean how many companies send you free rubber or acrylic stamps and say.. Hey try out our stamps and see if you like them.. and if you do.. Maybe you will get some more in the future.. :) Ya wouldn't that be nice.. I would be hitting up EVERY stamp company out there..So what exactly is a "digital" stamp. Well, first let me say they are ADDICTING..and so awesome! I mean seriously, think about it. How else could you get a new stamp within (2mins-24hrs depending on the person..)this fast...no shipping cost, no mounting your own stamp, and no STALKING the mail man..hehe I am so guilty of that... Hit the BUY NOW button, checkout and you will be coloring it in minutes! I am such a sucker for instant gratification, who isn't.. oh no please sir.. I see you have 6 carts full of stuff and I am only buying a pack of gum.. but you know.. I have all day so you go ahead of me.. NOT!!!! ;) The best part.. you can shop in your pajamas, hair not done, even if you have sick/napping kids, or if you are staying home from work because you don't feel good.. but you feel good enough to craft..YA! I know that trick too..! Now that's what I call MY KIND OF SHOPPING. Plus for the cost of under $3 which if you think about it.. is less than shipping (or gas) it would cost me just that in gas to go to my craft store and back.. and it doesn't count all the time I could be crafting.. Don't get me wrong.. I own a BUNCH of rubber and acrylic stamps and LOVE THEM.. but I think digital stamps are a great too, especially in a time when so many people would like a new stamps but just can't afford the cost of getting rubber ones... Ok so obviously the price, convince, speed, and instant gratification are great. But you may be wondering what else makes digital stamps so WONDERFUL... Well, let’s see...

You can print a digital stamp in ANY size you want. Simply purchase one image and you have every size you could ever use..Want to make a poster for your child's book report? you got it.. Want inchies? you got it. Want to make an ATC? You got it. Want to make a regular card? You got it. Want a larger size? You got it! All you have to do is open the image in a program I think just about everyone has.. Microsoft word.. yep.. no big fancy computer program.. just WORD.. that's it..
Maybe you would like the use just part of an image, or just maybe you would like to flip it for mirrored image. Easily done with a digital stamp.

If you like to scrapbook? Simply print it out right on the page. borders, journaling boxes, accents...one stamp and you have it. If you happen to be a digital scrapper? Once again you can do it. Pick your favorite stamp place it onto your layout and voila...

Want to add color? All you have to do is simply print and color OR color(in your favorite editing program) then print. Your choice!

Maybe you don't know how to use a program like Photoshop, or Adobe Illustrator... Not a problem! You can print out a whole page of one image or a bunch of different ones at the same time and not have to waist paper or time. You have images waiting to be used when you are ready.. This can all be done in Microsoft WORD... If you have a printer you can pretty much figure you can print out a digital stamp.

Do you have limited space? Digital stamps take up no extra space! Simply keep a file on your computer and or flash drive and there they are whenever you need them. One of the best parts is your computer puts them into alphabetical order.. whenever you need a stamp.. there it is.. now searching for that one stamp you know you have but don't know where you put it.. or can't remember what box it's in.. No storage solutions needed.

No time to clean up? You don't have to search every box you have for the stamp you need, pull out your ink pads, your cleaner, your cleaning mat, ink your stamp, clean it, put the stamp away, put your ink away, put your cleaner and your cleaning mat away.... Save your time for creating.. Print it and start creating... All that is needed is the amount of time it takes to click and print and your ready to ROCK.. you're done. No stamp scrubbing required!

Have kids who want to stamp with you? I have A LOT of stamps that have ink all over them from my kids wanting to stamp with me.. therefore a HUGE mess and prep time for me.. in order to get just that 15mins I need to do a project.. Instead now.. I print out the same image I am using for them.. I give them some crayons and away we go.. heck I even will give them some glue and glitter, or some of my scrap pieces of paper, glue stick and let them glue little pieces of paper on the image.... :) The best part is I don't have a HUGE clean up.. my stamps are ruined.. and I can make their image the size of a coloring page.. HEY.. that's a great idea.. I am going to make a Christmas coloring book for my nieces and nephews for Christmas with my digital stamps.. not to mention what a cool birthday present topper for one of your kids to take to the party.. and all it took was a couple clicks of a button and it's practically finished..

There are so many great uses for digital stamps. I would love to hear your ideas too

~Images Smearing???WHY?
I have not had a bit of trouble with smudged images when I use my mom's printer to print out my images. she has a cheap Lexmark, but on my HP and Epson it smears.. so I did some research online and found out a couple things.. If you are planning on printing a digital image to color with markers or water colored pencils etc.. you will want to look at what kind of ink your printer is using.. Just like regular stamping. ink the type matters. My HP printer uses a black + tricolor combo or a photo + tricolor combo. If you find that your images are smudging the problem could be that you are using a black ink instead of a photo ink. Black ink is designed for text while photo ink (used in place of the black cartridge) is designed for photos and made to be of a more archival quality. So using a design printed with black and tricolor inks the image would smudge but the one with photo and tri color inks didn't budge. So if you are having problems with smudging check your inks and see if that makes a difference, ;)

Leea Digital Stamp

This stamp was created in honor oh my sweet husbands mom.. My hubby is 100% Finnish.. Both his parents were born and raise in Finland.. although I never got to meet his mom.. I know I would have loved her.. So this is kind of a tribute stamp to her.. I call her Leea.. she looks like a little Finnish girl to me.. and this is what I imagined his mom doing as a little girl.. Lori created such a beautiful card.. EVERYTHING about this card is wonderful.. she colored it so well.. and the patterned paper and ribbon are just the perfect touch to keep the image as the focal point.. Thanks so much for stopping by.. ~Remember to help fill my LOVE TANK.. :)

~you still have time to tryout for the SNB Design Team.. Details at top of blog..

Play Date Cafe Challenge #6 & Abstract Shoe

Play Date Cafe Challenge #6....Our design team host this week is Sarah .. If you go to her blog.. you will notice her blog header is this weeks inspiration.. the colors are dark green, light blue, dark blue, and orange.. At first my thoughts were.. What am I going to make?? Then I thought of creating a fun abstract shoe to go along with this challenge.. I ended up painting with acrylic paint the background onto my cardstock. I colored my "abstract shoe" with copic markers.. While I was creating this card it felt rather plain.. I couldn't figure out why.. So I decided to add stitching around the whole shoe.. I hand stitched the black you see on the shoe.. added a fun flower and a "happily ever after" quote.. I love how this turned out.. I hope you enjoy it also..Don't forget to check out the other girls blogs for their pieces for this Play Date Cafe Challenge.. and make sure to leave them love too :)

Digital Stamps Made SIMPLE TUTORIAL...

So how do you use Digital Stamps--Sizing and Printing in Word?? It's easy.. so easy in fact I am going to walk you through it.. :)

You have your digital stamp all downloaded and on your computer (remember where you saved it) but now you are looking for a fast and easy way to print. One super easy way to print is in Microsoft Word. Yep, no fancy imaging program required!
Here are the steps to follow.
• Open a new 8.5 x11 Word document
• Click on Insert in the top tool bar. Go down to Picture and select the "From file" option.

• A pop up will appear on the screen. Go to the folder where you store your images and double click on the stamp image you would like to print.
• The new image will now appear on the page and you can print it out

But wait.. maybe you would like to resize the image.. There are 2 ways to do this. The first way is..
Click on your image one time. It will create a box around it.

While holding down the SHIFT key, click on one of the corners and drag it to the size you would like. (the SHIFT key keeps everything in proportion.. If you want a thinner snowman just use the little dots around the image to make it the size and shape that fits your needs)

OR
Simply double click on the image that appears in your word document. A box will pop up called "Format Picture". Select the size tab. Adjust either the height or width to resize the image. Make sure you have the box that says "Lock aspect ratio" checked. That will keep the image in the correct proportion. Click ok and your image will automatically be resized.

If you want to print more than one image per page.. Right click on your image, a box will com up click copy..

now you want to click to the right side of your image so the image NO LONGER has a box around it, all you will see is your little cursor next to it.. then right click onto the right side of the image (blank page) and click the word paste.. :)

If you would like to add a different image to this page just follow the above steps to add the first image to the page. (make sure your image is not click on with the box around it before you add a new image.. you want the cursor next to the image you have on your page) number of images.

Maybe you have an image that has more than one stamp or a greeting and you only want to print part of it. You can also crop an image in Word. To do so follow the same steps for resizing except instead of the size tab choose the "Picture" tab. This will give you the option to crop a specified amount from any side of the image. simply click ok when you have your sizes specified. If you find you have cropped too much you can simply press CTRL+Z and start over.

Now you have you digital stamps all resized, cropped and ready to be printed and to be created into a masterpiece..
I hope this answered a couple of your questions.. and now you know how to resize an image.. :) HUGS

Play Date Cafe Challenge #5 Simple Elegance Stamp

I am so excited to introduce you to our newest member Jules at the Play Date Cafe.. She is an AMAZING person and her talent is out of this world.. I envy her, as I am not good at the "vintage" take at things.. If there was one area of design I could work more on it would be that.. She however has it down.. and everything about her creations scream inspiration.. I am so happy she is going to be on our team.. for this weeks challenge she chose Silver/Metallic, Berry, Teal, and white.. I had so much fun creating this project... these are TOTALLY colors I would have never just picked up and placed together.. I really like how it turned out though.. :) So Thanks Jules for the wonderful inspiration.. I hope you all will play with us this week.. I love to see what everyone creates..
~So for my card.. When I looked at these colors I saw.. VINTAGE.. and I FREAKED OUT.. I mean.. I don't know how (wish I did).. to do VINTAGE.. I was like.. Okay what am I GOING TO MAKE!!.. So as I was pondering and panicking.. I thought of abstract, Japanese, Elegance.. so I created this digital image.. I LOVE how it turned out. so different and to me such an elegant stamp.. I think she could be used for almost any occasion.. and that's one of the main reasons why I love this stamp so much.. :) I ended up outlining the black parts in black puffy paint, and putting on a couple of lolly pop flowers, and of course distressed it.. :) Thanks so much for looking.
