SNB Christmas Block BLOG HOP!

Hi Everyone! Welcome to SNB's Christmas Block Blog Hop. What's all the excitement about you ask? Well, it may still be August but Alison has definitely caught the Christmas Spirit. She has created a new line of block images for Christmas and one is cuter than the next.

Aren't they ADORABLE? I can't even decide which one is my favorite...I love them all!
To get all of you in the Christmas Spirit as well, SNB is having a blog hop. It runs today through Monday night at 11:59PM US Mountain Time. All you have to do is follow along with the hop and you can win these awesome images for yourself. Each SNB DT member has created something using a different one of these Christmas blocks. Visit each of the blogs, leave a comment and you could win the image that the DT member used on her blog. If you make your way all the way though the hop and leave comments on all the DT's blogs, you are in the running to win ALL TWELVE block images...the WHOLE set, just for you!
So, let's get started. Your first stop is my blog: LORI
In case you get lost along the way, here is the order of the hop:
SNB Blog (you are here!)

small gift box...

for today, i'm using alison's Mayling image from her Zen Collection.  i put her on a thank you tag, that fits into a small gift box.   for the box template, you'll need an orbit gum package.

1. disassemble the box, and you'll have this.
2.  lay this down onto a patterned cardstock, and trace around the shape.
3.  cut it out.  and you'll have something like this.
4.  fold in the sides, and glue to the front panel.  (i added a rectangle coordinating paper on inside.)
 5.  print out mayling and color with copics and/or paper piece the dress, then cut her out.
6.  attach her to a tag, and stamp a sentiment.  place the tag, and a gift card, candy, etc, into the box, and tie it shut with ribbon.
thanks so much for looking!  and, if you have any questions, just ask:)

Nurse imp

Hi all, Gunvor here!

I'm having such a great time colouring the lovely images from SNB! This time, I made a get-well-soon card with the cutest nurse image ever.

You can find Nurse little imp in the SNB store HERE! It's really a very versatile image; besides get-well-greetings I see cards of any kinds to nurses or hospital staff, congratulations cards to graduated nurse students etc etc. Come to think of it, I think I wall make a sign for my sister (who is a nurse) to put on her desk at work.

If you want to get more information about this card, please visit my blog.

seam binding ribbon...

i love the look of seam binding ribbons. i started out buying them, but, its cheaper to make your own.  on my card,  the ribbon i used, was sprayed lightly with a tan mist.   the cupcake is one of alison's new images.  you can find the cupcake here.

these are the products i used.  i bought this on line--just do a search on hug snug, and you'll find a number of places to buy from.
these are some of the mists i used.  most scrapbook stores and online stores have those in stock.  some have a glimmer look to them, some don't.
i did mine outside on my deck, because its a messy process.  and you will want to wear gloves while doing this.

i used several different types of mists-they are all pretty much the same, so buy the cheapest you can find. if your interested, you can find tutorials on-line, on how to make your own mists, too.

 the steps are easy.
1. dampen the ribbon and cut into 3' strips.

2. mist a piece of ribbon randomly, then, scrunch it up. unfold it, spray again, scrunch, again. here is what mine looked like before they were dry.

3. when the ribbon is the color depth you want, just scrunch it into a ball, and let it dry. (it dried quickly outside)

that's it, your done! and here is a close up of it dry.
thanks for coming!

library card pocket...

today, for stretch n bubbles, there is a free- library card pocket template that i found through split coast.  this template could be a card, gift card holder, or you could tuck pictures into it to send to grandma!
see alison’s cute digital band-aid?  i printed it out, cut it out, colored it with copics and added the punny sentiment.
here are the steps to make the pocket.
1. just download the template to your computer.
2. print it out onto a heavy cardstock.
3. cut it out.
4. pick out a card base for your pocket, i used a cream cardstock.
5. laid the template down on the cream card base.
6. trace around the template, then cut it out. it should look like this.
7. score the three fold lines, and fold.
8. glue the two side wings to the back. now, you have a pocket.

WE do have some new girls we want to welcome here to the SNB DT.. some fun new blogs for our loyal followers to visit.. and some new inspiration.. I hope you will join in with me in giving a big welcome to our newest members..

Gunvor-My name is Gunvor Andersson Storck and I live in Sweden. I have been stamping for 10 years and love making cards as well as altering stuff. And even though I always claim to be a stamper, not a scrapper I do create some albums as well, but in a small format.
how neat is that.. Gunvor is from Sweden.. so she will be posting in Swedish and English..

D'Anne-Just a little about me, I'm 45 years old married. I do have two English Bulldogs (Junior and Rosie) which provides our family with unconditional love. When you visit my blog, my avatar is Rosie. I have been scrapbooking and making cards for 15 years. I really started focusing on rubberstamping and card making about seven years ago when my father-in law (who I knew before I met my husband) and my father died within 30 days from one another. I enjoy making cards which provides an outlet to handle my everyday stress.
Pandy- I am a calligrapher: a good old fashioned crafter - with years of experience in a wide variety of crafting techniques. I craft solely by hand, from scratch, to create the beautiful cards and albums

paper ribbon technique...

for snb this week, i am showing how to make a paper ribbon. this card uses snb’s willow image, which you can find here!

here are the steps to make your own paper ribbon. i cut 1” x 12” strip of double sided paper.
then, i folded it here and there, not measuring anything. and i deliberately made it a bit uneven.
take it to your sewing machine, and sew close to one edge.
and, here is the finished ribbon. i love doing this technique. it adds texture and depth to your project, and you can color match very easily.
that’s all for today, thanks so much for coming:)
